The National Standards to Prevent, Detect, and Respond to Prison Rape (PREA Standards) require all covered confinement facilities to be audited at least once during every three-year audit cycle.
The Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center’s start date of on-site audit began on December 7, 2022 and concluded August 17, 2023. During this audit cycle, the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center was found in compliance with the PREA.
“I commend all our staff for their ongoing commitment to meeting these standards,” said Ryan Breedlove, Superintendent of the Juvenile Detention Center. “With that being said, the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center will continue to uphold the National PREA Standards and are determined to keep the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center residents safe from sexual abuse and sexual harassment.”
The final report for the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center is an official document that will be publicly available to view through the PREA Resource Center and also linked on Peoria County’s Juvenile Detention Center’s website when it becomes available.
