Man Charged for Crashing into Police Car

June 29, 2023, Peoria, IL – A Peoria man, Braylan Walls, 20, was charged today with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Criminal Damage to Government Supported Property, and Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding after nearly hitting two Peoria Police Officers with a car and leading them on a short chase.

Midday Wednesday, police responded to a report of trouble with Walls and, upon arrival, were notified of a gun in the car Walls was driving. When officers attempted to stop Walls, he accelerated, nearly striking the officers. He then hit a police car. Walls continued to flee from police and crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Peoria and Arcadia, where he then took off on foot. After a short chase, police apprehended him. A gun was found in the car.

Walls is being held at the Peoria County Jail on $100,000 bond.
