Man Found Guilty in 2022 New Year’s Day Murder

June 8, 2023, Peoria, IL –Today, a Peoria County Jury found Robert A. White, 28, of Peoria, IL, guilty of First-Degree Murder and Aggravated Battery, a Class X Felony, in the tragic New Year’s Day shooting of Daniella Jackson, 33, and Levi Conway, 41, both of Peoria, IL. Conway survived his injuries, but Jackson died on their apartment floor.

Like many married couples, Conway and Jackson were celebrating New Year’s Eve with family and friends at their apartment. After midnight, that celebration ended abruptly when White insulted fellow partygoers and tried to be tough by pulling out a gun. Conway stepped in, attempted to calm the situation, and everyone was ushered out the door, including White. However, White returned and said, “Don’t try to ever stop me from what I’m doing,” and shot Conway three times. He then shot Jackson four times, killing her.

The case is set for sentencing on July 12, 2023. White is eligible for up to life in prison.
