Additional Murder Charge Filed In Case Involving Minor

Additional Murder Charge Filed In Case Involving Minor

May 19, 2023, Peoria, IL –Today the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office added one count of Second Degree Murder against the 14-year-old who threw a block of concrete at Tony Collier (50) striking him in the head. Mr. Collier recently died from that injury. Despite the additional charge being added, the Court released the minor from custody today, over the prosecutor’s objection. This Office will file a motion to reconsider that ruling.

On May 10, 2023, there was an altercation between the minor and Mr. Collier. During the encounter, the minor twice picked up a block of concrete throwing it at Mr. Collier. The second time it was thrown at his head.

Due to the age of the minor and the circumstances of the case, it will remain in juvenile court.
