[ARCHIVED] Illinois Sheriffs' Association Scholarship Award for 2019-20

Since the establishment of the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association Scholarship in 1980, the ISA has annually awarded scholarships throughout the State of Illinois. Over 100 ISA college scholarships will be given this year to students wishing to pursue higher education during the 2019-20 academic school year.

Sheriff Asbell appointed a Citizens' Committee to review scholarship applications received in Peoria County, then select two scholarship winners. Each winner will receive a $500 scholarship from the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office. The committee consists of three judges:

Mr. Donald Jackson Attorney at Law
Mr. Robert LaCroix Retired Teacher, District 150
Ms. Sonya Pacey Teacher, District 150

After reviewing all applications received in Peoria County, the Citizens' Committee chose the following two students as scholarship recipients:

Mr. Zhyon Parkman from Quest Charter Academy High School
Son of Phyllis Parkman

Ms. Taylor Sims from Elmwood High School
Daughter of Gregory and Kimberly Sims

The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association will announce all statewide scholarship recipients on June 13, 2019.

An award presentation will be made during the Peoria County Board Meeting on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Peoria County Courthouse.
