Work continues on the Health and Human Services Building, located at the site of the former Peoria City/County Health Department campus. Those buildings were demolished earlier this year by N.E. Finch to make way for the construction of a new facility to hold the Health Department, Regional Office of Education offices, Coroner's Office, and Sustainability and Resource Conservation Department. The bulk of the funding for this massive project was from American Rescue Plan Act Funds allocated by the Peoria County Board and the Board of Health's allocated reserve funds. No property tax increase or debt is being issued to build this facility.
Since September, River City Construction has installed the buried retention pond, located toward the rear of the property by the garage, as well as storm pipe and inlets in the southeast corner of the property. On the main building, they have started excavation, rebar reinforcement, and concrete footings on the north, west, and south exterior walls. It is really starting to take shape!
