The regular meeting of the Peoria County Board is the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Peoria County Courthouse Boardroom, Room 403. A special organizational meeting is held the first Monday in December of each even-numbered year.
Due to COVID-19, the Peoria County Board has met virtually. In cases where the public may not comment in person, public comment may still be submitted through the Peoria County Clerk’s Office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Peoria County has a Board-Administrator structure. The 18-member board (one representative per district) has a peer-elected chairperson and delegates the day-to-day duties to a hired administrator who supervises various county departments.
The business of the County Board is conducted through the committee system. Each of the seven standing committees is responsible for oversight and budgetary control of its assigned areas. The committees report their activities to the full Board each month.
Every two years the Board reorganizes, selects a new chairperson, new committees and updates its rules. The current Rules of Order (PDF) is included on this site.
