Peoria County Board Chairman Andrew A. Rand is pleased to report that Peoria County committees on October 22 and 23 approved a balanced 2019 budget. The budget is slated to go before the full Peoria County Board at the November 8 board meeting.
“This Peoria County Board, Peoria County elected officials, and staff did a tremendous job in working together to not only to craft a balanced 2019 budget, but we have also taken steps to ensure the long-term financial health of the County,” states Chairman Andrew Rand.
The budget fully funds Peoria County’s pension obligations. The general fund, which has often been a discussion item for the board, is not only balanced, in 2018 it is projected to have a $1.1 million surplus to return to reserves. The budget also establishes a positive path forward for Heddington Oaks per the recent partnership with OSF, announced earlier this year.
“I’m very pleased with our financial position and the plan we’ve crafted to take us forward,” says Peoria County Administrator Scott Sorrel.
